Introducing .... THE WORD From radio DJ, sports announcer, and talk show host, to TV news anchor, weatherman, the host of TV game shows and fundraising telethons, BC Entertainment Hall of Fame inductee, Wayne Cox is an integral part of the Blue Frog Community and has covered it all. Welcome to the first edition of The Word. Instead of looking out the front window, to see what’s ahead, I'd like to start by looking out the back window, and have a look at some of the shows of 2022 that we all said….“More More More! One show just isn’t enough!” First up, Low Cut Connie came to pay us a visit. A hard rocking band out of the Eastern U.S. You want high energy? This band must have been on a steady diet of Red Bull the way they blew the roof off Blue Frog! So much energy, they told us up front, they can’t do 2 shows a night, they just don’t have the strength, they leave it all on the stage of the first show! HoRoJo is another group that we wanted more of. HoRoJo is a blues trio out of Ottawa. A strange name for a band you say? I guess it is, but here’s the solution to the puzzling name. Take the first 2 letters from the last names of each member of the band, the “HO” from Jamie Holmes, the “RO” from Jeff Rogers, and the “JO” from JW Jones. HoRoJo, a fine, fine, tight, award winning rhythm and blues band. The Paperboys is a fabulous group that has a wonderful sense of humour. Led by Tom Landa, this Vancouver band is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The Paperboys has been touring the world with what could be called a wonderful mix of Celtic and Bluegrass, with just a hint of Mexican flavouring. Don’t miss them if they come back to Blue Frog. Tony D and the Mojo Stars, what a great combination. Tony D, (Tony Diteodoro), is the guitarist for the Juno award winning band MonkeyJunk. Tony joined up with the seasoned Vancouver band, the Mojo Stars, for a double shot of the Blues. Tony’s fabulous guitar work, coupled with the energetic sound of the Mojo Stars made for an amazing evening for Blues fans. So there’s a look out to just a few of the shows that we wish we could have had more of!! Until next week. Wayne Philly-based rock & roll band, Low Cut Connie rolls into town, making Blue Frog Studios the only Canadian stop on their massive US national tour. Full show Blue Crew bartenders having a well deserved drink of their own. Thanks to Sam & Terry at BIN 101 who hosted the entire Blue Crew for our annual "Whew Christmas is over" get together. We all stepped out of our "pad" and enjoyed amazing tapas and libations.
