It Was 40 Years Ago Today
Where did all the pipe smokers go? I haven’t seen one in years! I checked with my friends at Google, and asked that very question. Google says, "Pipe smoking has been dwindling since the 1960s, but is still favoured by a small percentage (approximately 1.5%) of smokers in the U.S. today, especially older men. Pipe smoking is still common in Sweden, as many as one-quarter of adult males smoke a pipe.”

My Irish Grandfather

St. Patrick’s Day with Pat Chessell Celtic Band at Blue Frog Studios really stirred up my Irish blood, and as happens every March 17th, I think about my Irish Grandfather.

This wee yarn isn’t as much about my Grandfather, as it is about where he was born. I didn’t get to know my maternal Grandfather, he passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba shortly before I was born. His name was William John Wylie, and from all family accounts, he was a wonderful man who was proud of his Irish roots.

Parrotheads

Jimmy Buffett played Palm Springs this past Tuesday! It was my 6th Buffett concert and the first for Blue Frog’s Kelly and Juanita. They were certainly dressed for the occasion as you can see in the accompanying photo! Once at the concert, the Parrotheads were out in profusion.

I always used to question hockey fans who would go to the games wearing their team jerseys. And then I realized I was doing the same type of fanatical thing every time I attended a Jimmy Buffett concert! I would dress in my best Tropical shirt with all the other Parrotheads.
