Waylon, Willie, and the Boys
Once upon a time, I was the resident weekend weather guy on BCTV (now Global TV). During those days I was sent outside to report on the weather for the day and the week to come. The location would change every week, and we would try to include a community event or a community location of interest. Some mornings I would go in search of something and each hour show up at a different location. One particular Saturday I went in search of Garth Brooks who was in town for a concert, and we were able to track down his tour bus. I got talking to Garth’s bus driver and managed to get inside Garth’s bus with the cameraman to have a look around. When I asked where the “Garthman” was, I was told that he went golfing. Which reminded me of another “country singer goes golfing” story. Bad News Bears
I realized the other day the sport of baseball has been in my life since before I was born and continues on today. My Mom and Dad used to watch baseball games at Connaught Park in Vancouver and had a favourite pitcher on one of the teams. His name was Wayne! They thought it would be a good idea if they ever had a son, to name him after their favourite player. Strange I know, but I’m sure stranger reasons exist. I guess they could have called me Yogi. Glen’s Goodbye
I said goodbye to an old friend recently. It was the final goodbye, something that is happening way too often these days as the clock keeps ticking in our lives. Maybe you’re going through the same experience? It’s what seems to be happening in our stage of life. To paraphrase a song, “When did we get old? Did time speed up, or did we slow down?” |
