 Stockholm Syndrome?
There’s been a lot of talk lately about hospital wait times and the general state of our health system. This isn’t a rant about any of that, it’s more about a strange thing that happened to me on the way to my operation. Well, I guess it wasn’t really an operation, I think it would come under the heading of a “procedure” as I was awake for the whole thing. I had to have a pacemaker installed for my slower-than-normal heartbeat.  Labatt’s Expo Theatre - Expo 86
Expo 86 in Vancouver could be summed up by the Irish Rovers song, “Wasn’t That a Party!” Vancouver invited the world to come and enjoy the 1986 Exposition which was officially opened on the shores of False Creek, by Prince Charles (now King Charles III) and Princess Diana on May 2, 1986.  When you’re hot, you’re hot!
We’re just back from a trip to Mexico and one of the nice touches where we dined was a hot sauce sampler for the table. Six little bowls of hot sauce to sample with a bowl of chips. The sauces ranged from very mild to super hot. The super hot was really super hot, and reminded me of some hot times we had at a little Mexican restaurant in Birch Bay Washington. I’m sure the place had a name but I only remember saying, “Let’s go to Señor Perez’s for dinner. Señor Perez wasn’t Mexican, he was an American whose name probably wasn’t Perez, but he had a deep love for Mexican culture, people, and food. |
