Do You Know the Way?
The late 80’s saw me freelancing in the TV game show market, and to do that I had to do what Michael J. Fox once said when asked why he went to Los Angeles to work. He answered, “I’m like a lumberjack, I go where the trees are.” Your Call is Important!
Why don’t big companies want to talk to me? It seems the bigger the company the less likely I get to talk to a human being! I’m not sure when this phenomenon began. I’m sure in the old days a phone call was answered promptly and the problem dealt with. If I recall, phone calls were answered by a person and then asked if you wouldn’t mind holding. A few minutes later that person was back on the phone asking how they might help. Isn’t that the way it used to go? What’s For Dinner? 🧂
I don’t know about you, but growing up in the '50s and '60s, our family had a very predictable dinner menu. I have to admit, and I know Mother would back me up on this, my Mom wasn’t a Michelin calibre chef. She could make a mean peanut butter and banana sandwich, but when it came to dinner, she kept it pretty simple. Some of the concoctions for lunch included peanut butter and jam, of course, cucumber sandwiches with mayo in the summer, and a real shocker, brown sugar sandwiches! I know, I can hear you shrieking out loud at the thought, but oh my, was it good. Here’s the recipe if you like. Two slices of fresh white bread, slather those with butter, then pile on some brown sugar! Good grief, how did I survive? How am I still alive? |
